Council Member Jumaane Williams Kicks off Reel Sisters 18th Anniversary Celebration!

Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series is kicking off its 18 Anniversary season with a promotional video by honorary festival ambassador Council member Jumaane Williams (45 CD). Council Member Williams praises Reel Sisters for bringing a global audience to Brooklyn and being a strong part of the borough’s resurgence.

“I’m truly honored to once again sponsor and serve as honorary host for the Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival and Lecture Series with Council Member Laurie Cumbo,” said Council Member Jumaane D. Williams (D-Brooklyn), Deputy Leader and Chair of the Council’s Housing and Buildings Committee. “My first love and aspiration was acting and I still maintain a strong passion for film and the arts. This multifaceted series not only highlights the artistic, social, and political ideas of a diverse group of women from a variety of different ethnic backgrounds, but represents the cultural diversity that defines Brooklyn.”

  1. Live on the other coast so being there in person isn’t possible. But I am enjoying seeing the women of Reel Sisters and learning about them. Councilman Williams is a great spokesman. My husband was born in Brooklyn. Small tie, but ties none the less. Thank you.
